    1. Every trainer employed or used by the asbestos training provider to carry out asbestos training, must meet the requirements of regulation 10 of L143, in that they are:

‘competent to do so, who has had adequate personal practical experience and who has a theoretical knowledge of all relevant aspects of the work being carried out by the employer’
    2. Every trainer employed or used by the asbestos training provider to carry out asbestos training for licensed asbestos work, must meet the additional requirements of chapter 4 of HSG247, whereby:

‘All training should be provided by instructors who are competent, ie they have adequate personal practical experience in the asbestos sector, theoretical knowledge of all relevant aspects of the work and the ability to deliver effective training courses’
    3. Completion of independent, external audits.

      (a) IATP recommends that all asbestos training providers should receive independent, external audits, at least annually.  However, as this is not a regulatory requirement for those training providers that do not offer Type 3 Training (Licensed Asbestos Work), such organisations may opt not to be audited.  These organisations must still complete all other sections of the application form and the last two columns of their listing on the ‘Find a Training Provider’ page will read: ‘N/A’ and ‘No Audit Necessary’ respectively.

      (b) It is preferable that organisations offering Type 3 Training (Licensed Asbestos Work) seeking listing with IATP provide documentary evidence before they are listed.  On occasion, though, it is recognised that this may not be possible due to the workload of the preferred auditing organisation.  In such instances Type 3 Training Providers may list with IATP with three months grace to get an audit completed and the documentary evidence submitted.  These organisations must still complete all other sections of the application form and the last two columns of their listing on the ‘Find a Training Provider’ page will read: ‘Pending’ and ‘Due by dd/mm/yy’ (where ‘dd/mm/yy is the date three months from the point of initial listing) respectively.

      (c) Those organisations offering Type 3 Training (Licensed Asbestos Work) that have received a competent, independent, external audit within the previous 12 months, must submit it along with the completed application form. (d) All auditing organisations conducting audits for Type 3 Training (Licensed Asbestos Work) must be able to confirm that the training courses meet the course criteria set out by HSG247 and deliver the syllabi effectively.  The name and address of the auditing organisation must be submitted for listing on the site.
    4. IATP was originally designed to cater for those training providers that had no other representation through trade associations that are involved with asbestos training.  However, due to demand; IATP now welcomes all asbestos training providers providing there is no conflict of interest such as a pre-existing committee membership within an asbestos trade associations involved with asbestos training.  Listing on IATP, however, is not available to asbestos trade associations involved with asbestos training due to the irredeemable conflict of interest.
    5. Asbestos training providers listed on this site should be continually looking to improve the standards of their training.  Listed asbestos training providers should feel free to exchange ideas and techniques for the various courses on the forum provided.
    6. Asbestos training providers will be listed alphabetically by type of training and the region(s) this training is offered.  Asbestos training providers must indicate which of the four types of training they offer.  They must also indicate in which region(s) this training is offered, up to a maximum of three regions.  In addition to the three regions, training providers can elect to list themselves as offering training on a national basis; although it is recommended that only those providers that regularly provide training in more than three regions list themselves as national providers.
    7. IATP does not have committees, directors, chairmen, etc, instead decisions are made by voting.  Every asbestos training provider listed has one vote and all votes carry equal weight.  Listed training providers should be willing to actively participate in the voting process to allow speedy decisions to be reached.
    8. The annual membership fee is £250 for the first year, paid by cheque to IATP.  IATP is a not for profit organisation and has no employees.  A vote will be held at the end of the year to decide what to do with any surplus funds that remain in the account.
    9. Asbestos training providers listed on IATP should not act against the interests of IATP, as stated above.
    10. Should a member or representative of an asbestos training provider breach any of these conditions, that training provider will be removed from the listing until such time that the breach is rectified.  There will be no refunds of annual membership fee.

Following receipt of payment an invoice will be raised and your details will be uploaded to the website within 7 days.
